Their wine, in fact, was dense, to easily carry it on ships, high alcoholic as it was produced from very dry grapes.<br><br>The wine hilly road started for the Aegean traders in Kamarina and reached Comiso, Vittoria, Lentini, Militello, Mineo, Palagonia where excellent vegetables, olive oil, honey were bought; then a stop in Caltagirone was necessary to buy the jars, which recognisability was warranty of quality of their content and finally reached Catania, <strong>where Etna&#8217;s wines <\/strong>were bought.<br><br>The traders were distributing these <strong>products to Sicily<\/strong> to buy oil, wine and honey, distributing them throughout the Mediterranean with great success. Archeological escavations reveal the presence in Sicily of Mycean transport amphoras and both Aegean and Sicilian symposium cups.<br>Pliny the Elder tells us that the Murgentian wine produced near Caltagirone was a must on the richest tables. Its worthy heir today is probably Cerasuolo di Vittoria.<br>There are various wine routes in Sicily: from Alcamo DOC to Marsala and Moscato di Pantelleria, from Insolia of Sciacca, Moscato of Noto, Malvasia of the Eolian islands.<br><strong>All great sicilian wines<\/strong> were born wishing to achieve extraordinary results beyond the mere economic side, so to awake imagination and emotions with the awareness of Sicily&#8217;s great cultural heritage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Odyssey is part of the common cultural background.
